"What is Open Science and why researchers should embrace it"

Abstract:
In November 2021, UNESCO has released the Recommendation on Open Science with the aim of defining what it means and promoting the principles and values. The European Commission has put Open Science in the policy agenda for the new framework program, Horizon Europe, adding Open Access as mandatory and opening the floor for improvement and co-creation of policy for changing the Research Assessment. According to the policymakers, institutions, and experts in open science, this movement has the power of increasing the collaboration and promoting a new research culture. However, many researchers are struggling to perform and align to that policies. In the workshop, Giulia Malaguarnera will guide you through the practices of open science and how to manage sensitive data meeting the requests from policymakers and citizen. She will also explain how these practices may enhance the impact of the research in the society and in the research community.
